Classic Leadership Styles

Tags

Much has been said for years about leadership styles. However, research into the best and most practical overview leads to the easiest conclusion (there will always be on these variables, as well as mixes of them) is that there are four different styles of leadership. With the best prevention!

1. The autocrat

This style of leadership is one that is usually less common than in the 70's and 80's. This leader thrives on leading from the front all the decisions and often dragging the rest of his people with him.

He was inspired by his own ego and internally driven to make decisions and the right of people and his people. There is little scope for influence here and he is the one-tracked in his determination to do things that way.

Often full of self-interest, he has little confidence in his subordinates and did not believe them. He made the most of the decisions and gives them to the phone. He makes threats where necessary to ensure that its orders are followed.

Autocratic style of leadership is sometimes portrayed as a strong leadership that is desired by their followers. This is where the individual searches for "leadership", but often these errors are told what to do, which is much nicer in certain situations and organizations. Unfortunately, in many organizations, individuals have no experience with this way of being led.

Although this style is now less profitable than in the past, little seems to have become pronounced unstylish to behave like that. To see the autocrat is not. This can be driven autocrats who were in hiding. Often ego-driven autocrats will be found lurking beneath the surface of the other three main styles, the worship of the trend today, but still calls the shot!

2. Involving autocrat

In leadership style, true autocrats have realized they can not do everything, so they seek and get help. These ideas they may still, but they try to sell ideas to others as a way of convincing.

By spending time approachable, actually talking and, even better, listen to their people, they develop a more inclusive way than pure autocrats. Often very charismatic, they build an effective team, which was drawn on the back of their personal character.

And they still get their own way! Lurking autocrat often hide here! But he worked, because people get more involved. This style of leadership requires much less energy to drag people to, instead of them with you, to a certain point.

They often see themselves as a kind of benevolent father figure who makes all important decisions and then to persuade people to deal with them. He would even let the small decisions made by some subordinates to use their own rules. Incentives and reprimand may be used to people playing and keep delivering.

3. Partial Democrat

In the style of leadership, someone they can look, with involvement in major decisions, including strategic planning, was the benchmark.

Some Democratic leaders truly believe that their people can contribute and they bring their problems to them for some input. Believe there is value in taking on a number of useful contributions is a major breakthrough of leaders to behave like that.

Although they were serious about maintaining our leadership as a whole, they are considered his involvement, although not provided for others to match with fully liberated.

Partial Democrats have believed in the majority of people skills and the involvement of many employees. Before a decision he would seek their views, but he still has the final word.

4. Total Democrat

Fully buy into the values that the involvement of others, so the best solution, Democrat total potential solutions to achieve bottom-up (as distinct from the autocrat, who is very 'down'). It is this style pretty hands-off leader, let the wisdom of his people to a solution.

Large delegate, this styles is also a leader can significantly develop individuals if they are given ongoing support and attention for challenging work asked of them. Often this style of leadership has the vision to realize what people need and make sure they receive, resulting in a successful and sustainable organization.

Democrat has total confidence in the staff. When problems arise and decisions are made, relevant and varied concerned members of the situation and discuss the majority is taken as the final decision.

And finally ... recognize this?

The Abrogator

This style of leadership is the wrong way extreme. Here there is no indication of quality, standards, direction or strategy from above, and all people under the leader is frustrated, even if they are allowed their own thing. The decision leaves only happen and the responsibility is canceled.

Total Democrat to the utmost, but without the quality of leadership, all those people feel unable to cope and eventually an explosion of underperformance precedes the other teams and individuals experiencing difficulties.

This is a style disaster, which is more common than you think. Often, when this happens, a sub 'leaders' take over and offer enough to keep things afloat.
